Problem Definition
Hourswise set out to solve a gap in most project tools — teams could plan work or track time, but rarely see, in real time, how those efforts were impacting timelines, budgets, and margins. We were tasked with creating a single, intelligent workspace that brought planning, time tracking, and cost monitoring together without adding complexity.
Our Role
We designed the system so every action linked seamlessly between planning, tracking, and reporting.
Sprint Planning with Editable Timelines — Simple to set up, flexible enough to adjust mid-project.
Time Logging That Fits Different Work Styles — Quick entries for speed, detailed logs for accuracy, with tags and billable status built in.
Automatic Cost Visibility — Real-time budget and margin tracking derived directly from logged work.
Task Tracking Without Overhead — Lightweight creation, tied directly to time and cost data.
Onboarding That Meets Users Where They Are — Guided for first-timers, skippable for those who want to dive straight in.
The visual system needed to feel calm but remain functional under heavy use.
Clear, Modular Layouts — Bento-style cards for sprints, tasks, and metrics, making information scannable.
Color Used With Purpose — Highlights for deadlines, budget alerts, and key metrics; muted tones elsewhere to reduce fatigue.
Readable Typography — Crisp, consistent spacing for quick scanning in data-heavy views.
Subtle Micro-Interactions — Lightweight cues for clarity without slowing the interface.
Outcome
The result was a clean, high-utility workspace where planning, execution, and budget tracking finally lived together. Teams could see risks early, keep budgets on track, and make better decisions without juggling multiple tools.
